Washing a piece of farm equipment can be a tough job! These pieces of machinery tend to build up an impressive layer of gunk in no time at all, and it can take ages trying to get it all off. To help you save some time, and ensure your farming equipment is as clean as a whistle, be sure to check out our helpful washing tips below.

What You Need

While cleaning a piece of farm equipment may require a bit more elbow grease than washing a car, the tools you’ll need to get the job done are largely the same! Automotive soap, a sponge and scrub brush, as well as a few soft towels, are all you need to get your farming equipment spic and span. However, if it’s been more than 4 to 6 months since you last washed your equipment, we recommend purchasing a gentle acid wash and wax to help remove built-up grime that normal soap may not be able to handle.

Getting Started

Whether you’re applying an acid wash or simply cleaning your equipment with good old soap and water, you’ll want to start by spraying down your machinery from top to bottom. If you’re using an acid wash, go ahead and apply it once your equipment has been rinsed, then follow up with your soap and sponge. If you aren’t using an acid wash, begin washing your equipment in sections, rinsing as you go. Remember to use your scrub brush to remove stuck-on debris and reach into small nooks and crannies. Once all of the dirt and mud have been removed, allow your equipment to dry out in the sun. If you applied an acid wash, don’t forget to return after your equipment has dried to apply a protective coating of wax.
